Daisy Mae
Daisy is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Plymouth whose music is a fusion of acoustic, jazz, and indie-pop. Most of her songs are in the form of social commentary, with lyrics that focus on the way of the world, and the importance of stepping off the treadmill we find oursleves on - to appreciate our surroundings.
Free Your Mind is an EP which is based around having open eyes and living without confines. It was written, recorded, and produced by Daisy. Two of the songs from this EP, Billboard City and Start Again have been aired on BBC Introducing in the South West.
Roots - EP was written in 2022 and it's about staying true in times of uncertainty, and trying to see the light in difficult times. The title track of Roots was also aired on BBC Introducing in the South West.
Daisy takes inspiration from a range of artists with soulful melodies or truthful lyrics. These include Bob Marley, Julie London, Billie Holiday, Adele, Greentea Peng, Bob Dylan, Sade, Erykah Badu and Nick Mulvey.
BBC Introducing in the South West
"Sometimes it's nice to strip it back to just a guitar and a vocal. She takes inspiration from her surroundings and her songs address the light and the shade".
-Daniel Pascoe
"Daisy Mae has a beautiful, rich tembre to her voice. I think that song 'The End' is articulating a lot of things we are thinking and feeling at the moment".
- Sarah Gosling
